Context_
Krakow Urban Housing is situated on a former industrial brown field site, just outside the main medieval city core in Krakow, Poland. The surrounding area is filled with communist era apartment buildings that lack any central core and gathering space.

Concept_
The site is divided into four districts, all surrounding a traditional European city square. This provides the residence places to dine, shop, and gather without having to drive. Vehicular traffic is pushed to the exterior of the project to give priority to the pedestrian and cyclist.

Construct_
The Urban Housing district is built out of poured-in-place concrete. This allows a radiant heating and cooling system to be embedded into floor slabs and green roofs to be located on residential buildings. This gives the residence a private roof garden to escape the rapid pace of the city. Town house units have double height sky-lights to provide natural light deep into the floor plan.
